On April 30, the Simmons community gathered to celebrate its longest-standing tradition, May Day. Every year since 1912, the sophomore class has honored the senior class with speeches, poetry readings, the Maypole dance, and a strawberry breakfast. This past Sunday, a number of students and staff, adorned in flower crowns, attended the May Day ceremony in front of Smith Hall on the residence campus. The Simmons Sirens, the College’s a capella group sang two songs. Members of the Simmons College Dance Company then performed the Maypole dance. The ceremony was followed by brunch in Bartol Hall where, of course, strawberries were served.
