Boston Boat Duck Tours are defending their safety procedures after the fatal duck tour vehicle crash in Seattle.
In a statement, Boston Duck Tours said their tour boats are inspected every year by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utility and the Department of Transportation, in addition to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The statement also says the company has a highly trained team of mechanics that inspect the boats daily, and all boat conductors are subject to eight weeks of intensive training before driving their first tour.
Five international students died after a duck boat collided with a tour bus on a Seattle bridge last Thursday, which prompted the statements.
