To the Editor: Long-time Simmons employee says goodbye

An open letter to the Simmons Community

On August 11, 2003, I started my first day at Simmons College. And, like most first-time students here, I was terrified. Was I ever going to find my way around, would I ever remember which was the west wing as opposed to the east, would I stop responding to calls for South Hall by first stopping at Smith Hall. But my nerves did settle down, and I one day found myself giving directions on finding the library from the east wing basement of MCB, and I realized I had found a home.

It is with deep sadness that on November 14, 2014, I will no longer be working at Simmons. I am not leaving Simmons to go work somewhere else, although I hope to find a job soon. After living in
New England for 27 years I have decided that now is the time to move closer to home, and spend more time with family, specifically my mom, while I still can.

Simmons became a part of me, and I would like to think that in some small way, I became part of
Simmons. I want to thank all of you, staff, faculty, and the ever changing student body fort he privilege of serving you as your maintenance man. I hope I did good work, and somehow made what you need to do here easier or more pleasant.

If you are ever in the Philadelphia/Cherry Hill NJ areas look me up.
Stone McShane.

Editor’s Note: The Simmons Voice wishes Stone the best of luck on his next adventures. He will missed here at Simmons.

P.S. We hope he says hi to his mom for us!
