The New York Marathon belonged to the nation of Kenya this year as Stanley Biwott and Mary Keitany took the top spots for male and female finishers.
Biwott, who worked on a Kenyan dairy farm before training as a professional runner in 2006 ,finished in 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 34 seconds with his average pace for the final five miles hovering around a blistering 4:30 per mile.
Keitany, who won the marathon in 2014, had time to spare as she came around the final bend of the race. She held up one finger on each hand and waved them at cheering spectators before adding a finger to signify her second consecutive win. She finished in 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 25 seconds.
