Weekly Roundup: October 8

Volleyball

Morgan Weeg led volleyball to a win over Norwich University on October 12th. The junior outside hitter totaled 38 kills, and reaching a 1,000 kill milestone for her career.

Junior Morgan Lauvray was named the GNAC Women’s Volleyball Libero of the Week for the week of October 7-13. This marks the third time Lauvray was named Libero of the week, becoming the first player in school history to receive the award three times.

Cross Country

Sophomore Alice Najimy finished fourth at the Runnin’ Monks Invitational on October 12th to lead the team to a fifth place finish. Najimi also led the team during the Annual Pop Crowell Invitational in late September with a seventh place finish, granting the team a fifth place finish overall. 

Field Hockey

Junior goalkeeper Lucy McNamara was named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time as of October 7th. McNamara also grabbed a career high 17 stops against Smith on October 5th. (Read the full story here)

Soccer

Izabella Warren was named the GNAC Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week of October 7-13. Warren, a first year, ranks 13th among league leaders and second among GNAC rookies in goals scored. She also leads Simmons with 5 goals and 10 points.

First year goalkeeper Melanie Coleman currently leads the GNAC in saves with 83 so far for the season. She ranks above Norwich goalkeeper Kim Watt by 10 saves.

Tennis

The tennis team defeated Saint Joseph’s (Conn.) on October 12th to secure the fourth seed in the GNAC Tournament.
