This week is Simmons Public Safety Week. There have been a lot of events around campus lately, from Simmtober celebrations to Family and Friends weekend, which just wrapped up on Sunday, Oct. 23.

As October comes to a close, students are invited to get to know their public safety team a little better. From Monday, Oct. 24 to Friday, Oct. 28 Public Safety officers and officials are spending time with students at events each day.simmons

Monday and Tuesday each started with “Coffee with a Cop”, where students in Simmons and Morse Halls were invited to talk with officials between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Monday also featured a Violence Prevention Information session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Common Grounds.

Public Safety will be just as busy for the rest of this week, with events on Academic Campus on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Wednesday, students are welcome to join Public Safety in Lefavour Hall Lobby from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a Rape Aggression Defense Information Session. On the quad on Thursday, students are invited to “Corn Hole with the Command Staff” from 12 to 2 p.m. To finish out the week from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Public Safety officers will be holding “Coffee, Cake, and Cops” in the One Palace Road Lobby.

This is the third year Simmons has held Public Safety Week. The events are part of an effort to help students get to know their public safety officials. “More than anything, Public Safety Week is a time for you to get to know your Simmons College Police and Public Safety Officers. We are here to assist you and ensure you are aware of the safety resources available to you as a member of the Simmons Community,” Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety, Honey Pike said in an email to the Simmons Community on Monday.
