The Editors in Chief would like to formally address the editorial in Issue 7, published on November 8th. In that issue, we published an editorial on the letter issued to Simmons College from the Department of Education’s Civil Rights Office. In our desire to act on momentum from the letter and discuss what happened, we skipped over the practice of good journalism, which would have been to publish an accompanying news piece simultaneously or a week prior.
This would have allowed our readers to develop their own thoughts and opinions before presenting them with ours. It was unfair for our readers to have an opinion presented without an objective look at the facts.
In an attempt to rectify the error in judgment, please refer to the news story on the front page describing the situation.
