There is a new exhibition coming to the Trustman Art Gallery that adds a whole new dimension to traditional showcases.
“Material Matters” focuses on using past drawings and family letters to literally add a two dimensional spin to the included pieces. Their technique includes taking advantage of both painting and collage to create new shapes and cast subtle shadows while utilizing incredibly bright colors.
Gerri Rachins and Stephanie Roberts-Camello, the artists behind the exhibit, have designed their work to have us look more closely at the past and understand that the past underlines the present.
The exhibition opens on February 3 and lasts through March 2. A reception will be held on February 9 from 5-7 p.m., which is free and open to the public.
