The Valentine season doesn’t end on Feb. 14 at Lovestruck Books – in fact, it’s year-round.
Just a short trip away on the Red Line or the 66 bus, Lovestruck is a women-owned romance bookstore located in Cambridge that caters to bookworms with a heart for love stories.
The store has genre sections for everyone – “romantasy” (romance and fantasy), dark romance, sports romance, and even more. They hold general fiction and non-fiction as well, for those feeling anti-romance this February.
Near the checkout, there is a queer book section, but this holds only a rotating selection of highlights. Lovestruck has representation mixed into their genres throughout the store as well – you just have to let a bookseller know if you’re looking for something more specific!
Ensuring they play into current trends, they have different displays centered around books like the “Bridgerton” or “Heated Rivalry” series. The perfect finishing touch was the quotes scattered across the “Heated Rivalry” display from the TV show, including the “Will you come to my cottage this summer” line and a screencap of Shane Hollander lying in the hospital.
It’s not without its knick-knacks either. Scattered throughout the store, tables, donned with red and pink, hold items from mugs to candles to vases. On the walls are candy and decorative stickers – which have already found their way onto my water bottle.
Tucked inside the store is a delicious George Howell café, open two hours before the bookstore, that converts into a wine bar at night with first-come, first-served seating. Whether you plan a visit at the beginning of the day or the end, there is space for book club hangouts galore.
Lovestruck is open to browse for books from 10 a.m. every day to 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
