If you have not done so already, grab the nearest friend and or stranger and head over to your local movie theater; “Guardians of the Galaxy” is one movie you don’t want to miss.

Directed by James Gunn and co-written by Nicole Perlman, “Guardians of the Galaxy” is the movie to please all movie-goers.

Worried that because it falls under the “Superhero” genre that you won’t be able to keep up with the plot? Fear not! This movie has something for everyone, whether or not you read the comics.

Enjoy watching “Parks and Recreation” actor Chris Pratt play a loveable bumbling oaf? Now you can watch him do those things as he peppers in some quick quips and killer dance moves.

Not into a macho, but jerkish-but-lovable-type character? Don’t worry, this film also features two killer female characters who know how to kick ass and take names. Though the film doesn’t go into depth about their background stories, the acting of these two characters will have you googling their names as soon as you leave the theater to dig up as much information about them in time to make an awesome and convincing Halloween costume.

Still not satisfied? Perhaps you’ll enjoy the wisecracks and dry wit of a talking raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper. He’s a sassy rodent with a love for weapons, mayhem, and drinking. But should you threaten his friends, he’ll take a chunk out of you.

The point being made here is that this film has a very broad appeal. The writing of the movie does an excellent job of introducing each character in their own unique way, quickly revealing the roles they will play throughout the plot. You get to know shallow versions of each character, but as the movie progresses, and we catch fleeting intimate moments between them, their personalities start to build and flourish. By the end of the film you’ll wish you were part of their posse.

One key element that adds to the plot, and has to be by far one of my favorite reasons for having seen it three times (and yes, I did pay for all three times) is the music.

Using a diegetic soundtrack, the writers are able to use the music to further develop the characters, as well as add some awesome dance moves alongside the fight scenes. From David Bowie to The Jackson Five, you really can’t go wrong with this soundtrack. And even if you don’t like the film, you may be finding yourself downloading the soundtrack off of iTunes.

So if you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and watch this movie. It’s been out all summer long so your opportunity (and best viewing experience) to see it on the big screen is dwindling. Once you’re done watching it, I’d like to see you try to come up with something you didn’t like about it.
