On October 3, Sabrina Carpenter brought her powerful vocals to Big Night Live on the fourth stop of the “emails i can’t send” tour for her fifth studio album of the same name.

Although the album is centered around turbulent, unprecedented times in her life, the 23-year-old, wearing a sparkly shirt and leather chain-clad miniskirt, brought nothing but positive energy to Boston as she performed and interacted with the sold-out crowd.

She connected with fans that had been there since the beginning by performing her debut single “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying.” Carpenter took a brief break after the song to address a fan in the audience who had gotten broken up with over FaceTime the day before after a four-year relationship. Throwing a lollipop to the fan, she had the crowd send them love and followed up with a cover of Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” after the fan told her they were still mad at their ex.

As if her angelic voice and overall happiness from performing on stage weren’t enough to catch your eye, the design around the venue as a whole was a perfect encapsulation of Sabrina Carpenter as a person.

Big Night Live is a 2000-person venue that was illuminated from floor to ceiling with bright lights ranging from soft yellows to bright pinks. A heart-shaped altar surrounded Carpenter and her band on stage, towering over her to offer more glittering light to her performance and add to the positive atmosphere.

She performed 11 of the 13 tracks from her latest album, along with earlier music such as “Paris,” “Sue Me,” and “Honeymoon Fades.” After the lights went down, she returned for an encore; performing the final 2 songs from “emails i can’t send,” as heart-shaped balloons fell through the ceiling, a physical representation of the love she has for her fans.
