Weekly Round Up: Week of October 16

Crew

The Simmons University crew team placed 22nd at the Head of the Charles Regatta on October 20th. The team will return in March when they return for the spring season.

Cross Country

Sophomore Alice Najimy led cross country at the Suffolk Invitational with a 13th place finish. The team finished 14th overall. Gabby Freeman, a senior and veteran runner, shaved 25 seconds off her previous best 5K time for a new PR and placed 72nd for Simmons.

Soccer

First year goalkeeper Melanie Coleman was named the GNAC Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week for the week of October 14-20. She is the first Shark to receive this honor in school history, and one of few GNAC players to earn the double honor. She currently ranks 4th among GNAC goalkeepers.

Swimming and Diving

Senior swimmer Aine Scholand was named the GNAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week of October 14-20. This is her 5th time receiving the honor.

Megan Driscoll was named the GNAC Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of October 14-20.

Tennis

The University’s tennis team sat in the fourth seed as they competed against Johnson & Wales in the GNAC Championship Tournament Semifinal match. The team will return in April for the spring season.
