Soiree 2014 waltzes our way

By Ellen Garnett

Worried about what to wear to Soirée or what it even is? Don’t be.

Soirée is a formal dance being held this year on Feb. 22, a night when all Simmons students can come and get their groove on for a night. This year it is Masquerade-themed.

“It’s a fun tradition,” said Campus Activities Board member Claire Campbell.

This year, Soiree will be held at the Seaport Hotel Plaza Ballroom. Buses will depart from Simmons Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. and the event will go from 7 to 11 p.m.

The big question students are asking is: what do I wear?

“Wear what you want. Wear what makes you feel good,” said Campbell. “Long dress, short dress, I don’t care. You’re going to look great either way. Whatever attire suits you, whatever you think Soirée means. If that means a track suit, come in a track suit.”

Come with your appetite because dinner will be served. There will be Caesar salad, dinner rolls, and three different meal options: chicken, vegetarian, and gluten-free.

For students who are 21 or older, there will be a cash bar available. Proper state I.D. must be presented. All students are required to bring their Simmons I.D.

If you haven’t picked up your tickets already, there may still be some left, but you should buy them as soon as possible! Tickets are $25 with a limit of two per person and are available at the Office of Student Leadership and Activities or online at http://tinyurl.com/soiree2014.

Past venues have included special locations such as Fenway Park and the House of Blues.  Last year, Soiree sold out to 500 attendees at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.
