In a historic decision, Simmons University Office of Undergraduate Admissions has accepted its first goose student into the University.
A native to the Muddy River, Copley the Goose was able to fill out an application online after chasing a Simmons student past Emmanuel for their computer.
“I guess I’m glad I was able to help, but I just want my computer back,” the student, who wishes to remain anonymous, reflected when told her computer helped the historic process.
Students living on residential campus were less than thrilled to hear the news. Various concerns were raised during a community meeting ranging from housing availability to whether Copley will be tested for bird-flu.
“I just don’t want to be hearing a bunch of flapping and hissing during quiet hours. I also don’t want them eating my food in the communal fridge,” said a Simmons senior, who wishes to remain anonymous.
In response to concerns, Simmons will be housing Copley in South Hall which is not open to Simmons students next academic year, with space to roam and fly as needed.
“HONK,” Copley said when asked if they were ready to attend in the Fall.
They will be enrolled into the communications major with a concentration in journalism. Deemed “a perfect fit to the community” by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Copley is stepping up to the plate to be a future journalist watchgoosedog.
