Are you sick of your Pandora stations? Does your playlist need CPR? The Voice has four up-and-coming bands and musicians that just might resuscitate your playlist.
1. Butchers Blind
If you are looking for music with simple and clean guitar riffs, you should check out Butchers Blind. Their music has natural-sounding rhythms that make you feel as if you were running through a sunny meadow for no other reason than you are alive, which you can feel in their songs “Brass Bell,” “Dice Were Down” and “Caught in a Lie.” Butchers Blind also utilizes horns in several of their songs, which gives their music a sassy touch, as Saxophonist Charles DeChant does for Hall & Oates. Their song “Thursday Girl” illustrates their attention to crafting beautiful, meaningful lyrics. Listen to more of their music by visiting their website www.butchersblind.com.
2. Scott Stein
Scott Stein could very well be the next Billy Joel. Stein plays the piano, organ, acoustic guitar, fender, glockenspiel and sings vocals in his band. His music feels very full, as there are many instruments including but not limited to a cello, electric bass and a lap steel to accompany his hearty voice. There is a twang of country in his voice, which complements the happy and classy sound of his music that you can hear in such songs as “Cheap Red Wine” and “The Rainy Days Are Yours.” To listen to Scott Stein’s music, visit scottsteinmusic.com.
3. Audioscam
Looking for some good, easy vibes? Listen to Audioscam’s new album “3.” Their music gives off a tropical island-feeling, especially in their songs “Awayo” and “Bridgetown Girls.” “Awayo” has a fun, tribal chant in the beginning and most of their songs include smooth vocal harmony. The Voice’s favorite Audioscam song would have to be “Thank You,” in which Brad Wallace sings, “Thank you / You found me in a crowd / When my chips were down.” Their lyrics’ sweet and simple message will warm your heart. Visit audioscam.com to listen to more of Audioscam’s music.
4. Bryan Gallo
If you’re looking for simple, Jason Mraz-type music, Bryan Gallo is your man. His music is mostly solo acoustic guitar, electric guitar and percussion. However, Gallo adds a little spice to his music with harmonica. Visit reverbnation.com/bryangallo to hear his music.
