Happy Halloween! It’s that time of year! All the ghost tours, ghost hunters, haunted houses, scary skeletal decorations and evil clowns come out to play! I went around to find out how the rest of Simmons College feels about these festivities and this is what you said.
Caitlyn said, “Trying to find what to wear. There are so many options.” Allie said, “The candy!” Emily said, “I hate Halloween”
Kelsey Hern – Its so festive and everyone looks so spooky! Katerina said, “I’m a wuss, I just don’t like scary things… like haunted houses.” Ainsley said, “Eating large amounts of candy without people judging you.”
Camille said, “I would say just dressing up and coming up with a creative costume. This year, I’m debating on Liza Menellis character from “Cabaret” or Tina Belcher from “Bob’s Burgers”.”
Vanessa said, “Being creative. I like to make costumes. My friends and I are going as Zoom Kids.” Amanda said, “It’s a social time. A lot of people get together and spend time with friends and and family. My friends and I are going to be flappers from the the 1920’s and the guys are going to be gangsters.” Chelsee said, “My favorite part of Halloween is the candy. I’m probably going to be Mia from the Princess Diaries – I can make my hair just like hers.
Zenaida said, “Decorating my house and watching kids Halloween movies. I don’t think scary movies are Halloween-y […]When I was little I loved organizing my candy from my favorites to the ones I kinda liked to the okay ones. And then trading at school afterwards.” Catherine said, “I love chocolate and candy!” Tiana said, “Halloween is right in the middle of fall and fall is my favorite season. Halloween is just during a beautiful time of year.”
Kevyn said, “It’s different every year. When I was a kid, we would go trick or treating in my friends’ apartment building. There were 39!”
Helene said, “It’s different when you go to college than when you’re at home. As a kid you go trick-or-treating. I enjoy being home for Halloween because the neighborhood is so nice. Getting my stomach pumped wearing a slutty kitten costume is not my idea of fun.”
Grace said, “I don’t understand the interest in Halloween, getting dressed up and getting scared. Its probably a family thing— they don’t really do Halloween either. I don’t really like scary things or scary movies. I love carving pumpkins though. I carved an owl the other day.”
These three girls holding a bake sale outside the Fens had differing opinions on Halloween that range from loving the candy, to enjoying scaring people, to not really bothering to celebrate due to her sister’s birthday being the day after.
Alexis said, “I love trick-or-treating! Of course I still go! I just take younger kids with me!”
