Boston among top trick-or-treating cities

By Haley Costen
Staff Writer

Boston was once again named one of the top trick-or-treating cities by zillow.com.

Boston came second place after San Francisco on the real estate site’s annual Trick-Or-Treat Index.

The index calculated the top 20 cities, along with the top five trick-or-treating neighborhoods within each city.

The top neighborhood in Boston was West Roxbury, followed by Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Charlestown, and the North End.

According to Zillow, the index is calculated using four equally weighted data variables: Zillow Home Value Index, population density, walk score, and local crime data from Relocation Essentials.

“Based on these variables, the Index represents cities that will provide the most candy, with the fewest walking and safety risks,” the blog states.

An area’s walk score is calculated by the amount of public transportation nearby, and the walking distance to local restaurants, stores, and schools.

Zillow calls 300 the Fenway a Walker’s Paradise and gives it a score of 95 out of 100 because daily errands don’t require a car.
