This past summer, you might have noticed the old blue gas station by Star Market gaining some twinkling string lights, then the addition of swing chairs, and finally some signage advertising The Station. Mid-September marked The Station’s launch, The Fenway’s “newest community space.” (thefenway.com).

September 18th marked the arrival of one of The Station’s new weekly programs, Fenway Flea, hosted by Original Markets. The Station will be holding its next Fenway Flea on October 15th and 16th, just a five-minute walk from Residential Campus.

Original Markets, the brand responsible for Fenway Flea, was only launched last April and has gained popularity for hosting flea markets all over the Boston area. Fenway Flea is its newest exciting endeavor: a collection of artisan small businesses and vintage pop-ups.

What was regarded as a rusty blue abandoned gas station (minus hosting Christmas tree sales in winter) is now a fall attraction that will host the flea market through October 31. Vendors will fill the lot every Sunday from 12 PM – 6 PM.

I had the pleasure of visiting its opening day and thrifted the slip skirt of my dreams. The market had everything from vintage and second-hand clothing, jewelry, and records to DIY pour art (swirled acrylic paint poured over a small canvas), candles, and crystals.

Most recently, you may have noticed the little wooden deck that’s been installed ––Fenway Flea is only one of the weekly events that will be taking place at The Station.

The Station’s other programs will include The Station Snack Shack, presented by The Wine Press, which will include appetizers, drinks, and DJ’d music; Breakfast Beats, including breakfast from local small businesses and live music; The Gallery, presenting quarterly art exhibits and events; and finally Game On, a selection of eclectic board games provided by a lending library via QR code.

The space itself will be open Monday – Sunday, but specific programs will be hosted on certain days of the week.
