Simmons will require all staff, faculty and students to mask up inside campus buildings this fall, according to an email Simmons University Campus Preparedness.

“We will require masks indoors for all community members through the beginning of the fall semester to ensure that we can return to normal operations safely while monitoring both public and campus health data,” said the June 30 email.

Masks are required in all indoor spaces, except within private offices, private residence rooms and while eating or drinking, according to the ‘Protecting Our Community’ page on the Simmons website.

This guideline comes along with Simmons’ requirement that all students participating in in-person classes and activities need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before returning to campus in the fall. The university strongly recommends COVID vaccines for faculty and staff, though they are not required.

Masks are not required in outdoor campus spaces for those who are fully vaccinated.
