Niamh Murphy, a junior in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, died in an off-campus motor vehicle accident April 14, according to Murphy’s obituary and an email sent from President Lynn Perry Wooten’s office. She was 21 years old.
According to the email from President Wooten’s office, Murphy was a Dean’s List student and described by professors as “remarkable, passionate, and driven.”
A GoFundMe page for memorial expenses, created by family friend Rachel Hargreaves, describes her as a “dedicated young woman, a talented swimmer, a loyal friend, a thoughtful daughter, and the best younger sister.”
In a statement to the Voice, the Exercise Science Liaison said they were “devastated” by Murphy’s passing, calling her a “valued and cherished member of the exercise science community and 3+3 Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.”
To preserve her legacy, the Class of 2025 council is accepting photos, memories, or stories that can be emailed to classof2025@simmons.edu.
