Bea Miller released “this call is coming from inside the house” on April 28, 2023, the fourth track from her teased upcoming third studio album “Bea Miller’s Cabinet.” The potential album will mark Miller’s first release on her own record label and her first solo music since 2020.

At the end of the “lonely [expletive]” music video released in January, a message is displayed across the screen to inform viewers that the song is part one of a twelve-part collection, leading many fans to believe she will release a full-length album at the end of the year. Since then, Miller has released one song each month.

In “this call is coming from inside the house,” Miller seems to be embracing the dance-rock aspect of her 2015 debut album, “Not an Apology.” However, the instrumentals sound futuristic, as opposed to that of her debut album, and her vocals have clearly matured since her first release.

Fans seem to relate to this track’s lyrics, as they touch on mental health and the feeling of hopelessness. It has a hard-hitting chorus of “I just tried to kill my mind, ‘cause it’s ruining my life,” and she continues on to describe herself as a self-danger who is constantly crying and going crazy from loneliness. The lyrics are grim, however, listeners have related them to experiencing depression.

This supposed third album will differ from her debut. On her first album, Miller had only contributed her writing to three of the eleven tracks. The rest were written by musicians such as Julia Michaels and Demi Lovato. Miller has said in the past that she “doesn’t love” her first album on social media, but her newer releases appear to be primarily self-written.

The other three tracks released so far have a pop-rock, danceable energy to them, and every track so far seems reminiscent of the rock side of her debut album. Fans are getting excited about a potential full album from Miller, nostalgically recalling her old music.

With “this call is coming from inside the house,” Miller seems to be getting in touch with her past and releasing music that she loves, is proud of, and authentically describes herself.
