Simmons University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosted the final Accepted Students Day of the 2022-23 academic year on April 15, 2023. Admitted students dove into a plethora of activities to experience life as a Simmons student.
Throughout the day, there were panels on campus life, academic resources, and tours of both the academic and residential campuses. In addition, students and their families could hear testimonials from current students and parents. Students were invited to attend a mock class, along with demonstrations of the HoloAnatomy Augmented Reality system used by the nursing program and the Student-Driven Media Center.
On top of the scheduled tours and activities, tours of the simulated nursing lab and individual financial aid appointments were offered throughout the day. If prospective students decided that Simmons was their right fit, they could stop by a table in the Main College Building to put down their deposits for housing and tuition.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions told the Voice that approximately 20 students committed to Simmons during Admitted Students Day on April 15.
Selma Rahman, a prospective Engineering major, was among the 20 students who placed their deposit on April 15. When asked what her deciding factors were for committing, she cited “the welcoming community and the endless opportunities that the faculty talked about, especially for STEM programs.”
Her mom, Raska Rahman, watched her place her deposit and said that she likes that it’s not too far from home, and described the environment and people at Simmons, as calm and friendly. Rahman and her daughter both loved the strong engineering program.
Emma-Cate Rapose, Assistant Director of Dix and Transfer Operations, said her favorite part of Admitted Students Day is when students place their deposit, describing it as “heartwarming.”
“I’ve seen parents cry,” said Rapose. “It’s so sweet and exciting to see this big decision for not only students but their families as they join the Simmons community.”
