Several Boston artists receive GRAMMY nominations

The Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 2023 Grammy Awards on Nov. 15, 2022. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Feb. 5, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where several artists from Massachusetts and the Boston area have received nominations.
Stoughton-born Lori McKenna is nominated for Best Country Song for penning “I Bet You Think About Me” with Taylor Swift. Swift and McKenna wrote the song in 2011 for her album “Red,” but it didn’t make the final cut. It was released on a 2021 re-recording of the album.
Along with McKenna, Newton native Louis CK is nominated for Best Comedy Album for “Sorry,” his twelfth stand-up comedy concert film and fifth nomination. He has received the same award three times, in 2012, 2015, and 2022.
The Boston Symphony Orchestra is up for Best Engineered Album, Classical, for their work on “Williams: Violin Concerto No. 2 & Selected Film Themes.” The Boston Orchestra Project also earned a nomination for Best Opera Recording for their work on “Davis: X – The Life And Times Of Malcolm X.”

Among notable nominees, Beyonce leads the artists for most nominations with nine, including three general field categories: Album, Song, and Record of the Year. This ties her with her husband Jay-Z for most Grammy nominations of all time, with 88 overall.
ABBA received four nominations, bringing their number up to five in their fifty years of music-making. Mary J. Blige received six, her first Grammy nominations in seven years.
