Outnumbered: a show to warm your heart and brighten your day

By Jessie Kuenzel
Staff Writer

Looking for a great new show to watch, but don’t have time to catch up on 100s of old episodes?

Are you a fan of comedies like “Modern Family,” “Raising Hope,” or “Parks and Recreation”?

If you said yes to either of these questions, or are just really bored one night, “Outnumbered” is a great show that will have you hooked in an instant.

The British comedy follows the everyday life of the Brockmans—an average London family with two parents struggling to balance all the struggles of work and home, and their three children who are all navigating the waters of childhood in their own quirky ways.

The show is, without a doubt, the best television series I have ever had the pleasure of watching, and in an age where there’s seemingly a new TV show every week, that is definitely saying something.

The child actors are hilarious. Large portions of the script are improvised, and the kids visibly enjoy themselves. The sibling dynamic is so true to life that it’s easy to forget that you aren’t just watching a really-well-shot home movie.

Forget about those fake-y comedies where the characters have to find themselves in ridiculous situations to make their audiences laugh, “Outnumbered” finds the hilarious in the mundane.

The show isn’t pretentious, tedious, or contrived. It is organic and original, and in the short breaks you will have between laughing fits, you will find yourself falling in love.

At only six episodes per season, you will find yourself flying through the available shows on Hulu and craving more.

If you have siblings, have ever babysat, or are simply in touch with your inner child, I can promise that this is a must-see show for you.
