Puerto Rico—Puerto Rico marks the latest in a series of Zika virus outbreaks that have happened over the past few weeks. This week, the governor declared a public health state of emergency and urged pregnant women to avoid visiting if at all possible.

Vatican City—Leaders of the Catholic church were called to testify again in response to accusations and investigations regarding child sexual abuse within the Church. The recent investigation in-to the Church occurred just as Spotlight—a film documenting the investigation of the Catholic Church by the Boston Globe—took Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Algeria—(AP) Authorities have jailed an Algerian citizen for possible links with the suspected ringleader of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud. The man is suspected of having “links with the terrorist attacks of Paris,” according to the court statement.

Belgium was home to four of the Nov. 13 attackers who killed 130 people in Paris, including Abaaoud, who died in a police raid in an apartment in Paris’ suburb five days later.

Greece—Debates throughout the EU are occurring concerning the acceptance of  refugees. Many nations, such as Austria and Slovenia, have agreed to allow refugees only arriving from “war torn areas.” As nations farther north block refugee entry, countries on the coast, like Greece, are forced to cope with the millions seeking entry into Europe.
