Last Wednesday, Jan. 27, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Simmons College graduate student was accosted by a male individual near the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Public Safety reported on Thursday.

The student was speaking on her cell phone when the male individual approached her, placed his own cell phone against her face, and referred to her using derogatory comments.

After the student informed him that she was contacting the police, the suspect departed toward Park Drive. He was reportedly between 15 and 25 years old, approximately 5’8”, and was wearing a black jacket with unknown lettering on it.

The student was not injured during the incident.

In an email to the Simmons Community, Deputy Chief of Police Vito Scotti encouraged individuals to remain aware of their surroundings, travel in well-lit areas, and to contact Public Safety with any concerns.
