Sean Collins, the chief of Simmons College Police, announced on Tuesday that the College’s annual Clery report was available.

Three years’ worth of statistics are included in the report. The crimes included were reported to have occurred on campus, in or on off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the school and on public property within or immediately adjacent to the campus, according to Collins.

The report was expanded this year to comply with the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA 2013).

The VAWA 2013 was passed on March 19, 2013 and reauthorizes the Violence Against Women Act of 1994.

New crime reporting requirements include data on domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

The most frequent crime on campus was liquor law violations, with 47 occurring in 2013, 52 in 2012, and 14 in 2011.

Drug law violations were the second most committed crime with 13 in 2013, 10 in 2012, and 7 in 2011. There were also four instances on public property in 2013.

Meanwhile 6 burglaries occurred on campus in 2013, 16 in 2012, and 11 in 2011.

Three aggravated assaults occurred on campus in 2013, with one in 2012 and another in 2011.

A rape was reported each in 2013, 2012, and 2011, and fondling was reported in 2012.

The expanded report complying with the VAWA 2013 Act reveals that one instance of domestic violence occurred in 2013, and three cases of stalking occurred that same year.

There were no reports of murder, manslaughter, arson, incest, statutory rape, dating violence, liquor law arrests, or drug law arrests. There were also no reports of illegal weapons possession reported for arrest or disciplinary action.

The report is required by federal law and also states Public Safety’s mission statement, Student Life policies, alcoholic beverages and illegal drug policies, and the missing student policy.

The report also contains safety tips as well as important phone numbers and resources for students.

The daily crime log can be reviewed at Public Safety headquarters at One Palace Road during normal business hours and a paper copy of the 2013 Clery Report is available.
