The best of winter packed into one festival

By Lauren Lane

When it comes to winter events, the Boston Winter Film Festival hits the nail on the head for not only entertainment but also winter themed enjoyment and high society fun.
The second annual Boston Winter Film Festival was started by Boston-based natives Nicholas and Michael Goyette, who are also two of the co-owners and founders of the Snow Riders, a company redefining the winter lifestyle.
It is an event that takes place at Boston’s prestigious Theatre 1 at the Revere Hotel, featuring 16 of the world’s most renowned ski and snowboarding films.
Films will include award-winning and award-nominated films from Level 1 Productions, Stept Productions, Nike Snowboarding, Videograss Productions, 4bi9 Media, Legs of Steel, Think Thank Films, Transworld Snowboarding, and Jake Blauvelt’s “Naturally.”
The two-day event does not only include films, but also snowboarding and skiing, free drink tickets, DJs and live music for after parties on both nights, lift tickets, and raffle tickets. There is also a charity oriented silent auction whose profits go to “Ellen’s Heart & Soul,” a nonprofit organization for breast cancer awareness.
“We want to bring the New England snow community together for an awesome time. The culture of snow sports is built around having as much fun as you can. We help make it happen. Free drink tickets and free lift tickets included with festival passes put it over the top. You can’t go wrong.” said Nick Goyette.
This event may happen during the fall, but the Winter Film Fest is not something to miss. With tickets starting at $20, and VIP passes priced at $55 for both days, I dare you to find a reason not to go.
