Simmons Campus Preparedness updated the community in a May 13 email on the recently announced vaccine policy, including resources for scheduling vaccines, information on submitting proof of vaccination and an upcoming Colleges of the Fenway sponsored vaccine town hall.
According to the email, the University currently aims to have 70% of the community vaccinated by July 1, 80% by August 1, and 90% by September 1.
This goal comes as the CDC announced that the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for use in adolescents 12 and older and the vaccine becomes more and more available in Massachusetts.
The email recommended scheduling vaccination appointments through vaxfinder.mass.gov or MassCovidVaccines.com, and noted that in an effort to aid vaccination rollout, Uber and Lyft will make all rides to and from COVID-19 vaccination sites free through July 4.
Simmons students can also access the vaccine through Boston Children’s Hospital, which is providing the vaccine to all Simmons students, staff and faculty. Students can call (617) 919-7102 to schedule a vaccination appointment through Boston Children’s.
While administration is still finalizing the process for incoming students in the fall, students can submit their vaccination status via the Student Health Portal. Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to email or call the Health Center, email@example.com and (617) 521-1020. International students with questions can email or call the Center for Global Education, firstname.lastname@example.org and (617) 521-2206.
On Thursday, May 20, the Colleges of the Fenway will hold a Vaccine Community Information Session and Town Hall for all current COF students, admitted students, family, staff and faculty. A panel of medical and public health experts from the COF and the Massachusetts Department of Health will answer questions about the vaccine and discuss the latest CDC and Massachusetts Department of Health guidelines.
There is an online portal for those wishing to register for the event. Anyone with questions they would like to see covered in the town hall are encouraged to email email@example.com.
