Simmons addresses online threats following protest

By Lindsey Stokes
Staff Writer

In an email sent to students and staff Tuesday evening, Chief Information Officer Debra Orr alerted the college to some “disturbing social media messages” posted after the demonstration in Common Grounds earlier that day.

Orr told the Simmons community that Public Safety was working with state authorities to determine procedure.

Public safety has increased patrols around both residential and academic campuses. A Simmons ID will be required to access all campus buildings.

The protest debrief, scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday, was canceled as a result of the threats.
